About Me

With nearly two decades of experience as an accomplished digital marketer and photographer under his belt, Virgil Soils is passionate about delivering results for clients.

Capturing life from behind the lens since he was a teenager, Virgil’s raw talent and eye for creating engaging visuals have awarded him a career that has touched both the creative and technical sides of the marketing industry. To date, his stunning photography has graced some of the country’s top print outlets including Vice, Complex, The Chicago Tribune, Spin Magazine, and Rolling Stone, in addition to a few music album covers.

No stranger to the media world, Virgil co-founded a culture and music website called RubyHornet.com. Covering the Chicago and national hip-hop scene with his partner, they interviewed top and up-and-coming artists in music, art, and streetwear that generated a large following locally and nationally. Virgil created and oversaw a small team of content creators and also helped organize monthly events that celebrated the artists that were covered on the site. This is where Virgil’s interest in the world of marking and advertising was piqued.

Following his love for music down to Austin, TX in 2011, Virgil landed a job at Emmis Communications, a major media conglomerate that operated seven of the local radio stations in the city. Serving as the digital content editor, Virgil was responsible for understanding the brand identity of each station and creating engaging video and photo assets that resonated with each of the station’s audiences. During this time, Virgil covered most major music events including South by Southwest (SXSW), Austin City Limits, X-Games, FunFunFun Fest, and countless concerts while also selling his own creative services to local businesses.

In 2016, Virgil decided to pivot his career and made a move to Miami to take a deeper dive into the marketing and advertising industry where he landed a job at Empresario, a consulting agency that helps clients better understand the digital advertising landscape through training, creating internal structures and/or managing digital ad campaigns directly for publishers or advertisers. Serving as a digital marketing manager, this is where Virgil began honing his skills and understanding the digital advertising world on a deeper level. Responsible for managing campaigns within paid social channels like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, email marketing, and managing an ad server, Virgil worked with a variety of clients.

After four years, Virgil switched gears to the agency side and took a position at Razorfish, a Publicis Groupe-owned full-service ad agency. Now serving as a Media Supervisor, Virgil went from an ad operations role to now being involved in the media planning, strategy, managing programmatic campaigns, and client-facing responsibilities. Virgil has grown in this role by being a problem solver and delivering for clients and has worked for diverse top-tier clients in the direct to consumer, media, entertainment, higher education, and finance industries.

In his free time, Virgil continues to enjoy shooting photography, creating art, and learning about cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and NFTs.
